<p>Jui Hong Teoh, managing director for Brandthink Malaysia, the agency behind the campaign told A+M that the campaign was created to reflect Sanuk&#8217;s brand persona.</p>
<p>&#8220;Taking its name from the Thai word for fun, Sanuk&#8217;s brand is fun-seeking tying back to its roots in Southern California. Having a theme around vacations, island beaches, a stay in Hard Rock Hotel reflects that persona.&#8221;</p>
<p>Teoh added that platforms such as Facebook was becoming a major source of traffic to both online websites and offline stores alike.</p>
<p>&#8220;Having a presence in these social platforms, we hope to tap into the increasing use of the Internet by consumers to seek product information and leverage on the new social layer to gain referrals and recommendations,&#8221; Teoh said.</p>
<p>Within a week of the launch, Sanuk Malaysia has gained more than 3,000 new fans to its Facebook page.</p>
<p>The campaign targets the demographic of 18-40 years old, who are fashionable, love beaches and casual wear and are on the look-out for something distinctively designed.</p>
<p>Promotions for the campaign will run in the form of advertising on Facebook using Facebook&#8217;s social ads platform and a PR campaign targeted at online media and blogs.</p>

<p>Malaysia &#8211; Local PR agency Brandthink has added two new clients namely, German domestic appliances manufacturer Miele and audio and video manufacturer Bang &amp; Olufsen, in Malaysia.</p>
<p>For Miele, Brandthink is working to boost the brand&#8217;s awareness in Malaysia, with the mandate to oversee its day-to-day PR activities in the local market.</p>

<p>Jui Hong Teoh managing director of Brandthink said since it was the brand&#8217;s official entry into the Malaysian market the agency is eager to start on the account.</p>
<p>&#8220;This win is great news for our agency. It&#8217;s good old fashion public relations work with an eye towards ensuring favorable reviews of the brand particularly amongst the affluent market segments.&#8221;</p>
<p>For Bang &amp; Olufsen, the agency will raise the profile of the brand for its new distributor, Singapore-based MJ Group, with the launch Bang &amp; Olufsen&#8217;s flagship store at The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur. The solo concept showroom will mark the brand&#8217;s re-emergence into the Malaysian market.</p>

Two days ago on June 29, 2011, Advertising+Marketing Magazine announced that BRANDTHINK Malaysia has been named the Silver Award Winner of the PR Agency of the Year category and the Local Hero Award winner making us the best local PR Agency in Malaysia. We also took home the Bronze Award for Direct Marketing Agency of the Year!]]></description>

<p>I take great pleasure in what I am about to announce to our clients, partners, staff and family. Two days ago on June 29, 2011, <a href="http://www.marketing-interactive.com/news/27170" rel="nofollow"  target="_blank">Advertising+Marketing Magazine</a> announced that <strong>BRANDTHINK Malaysia</strong> has been named the <strong>Silver Award</strong> Winner of the <em>PR Agency of the Year </em>category and the <strong>Local Hero Award</strong> winner making us the best local PR Agency in Malaysia. We also took home the <strong>Bronze Award</strong> for <em>Direct Marketing Agency of the Year</em>!</p>
<p>For most of the night at the Gala Dinner, our hopes were pinned on winning the Local Hero, as being an independent agency, we knew it&#8217;s a David vs Goliath fight with major multinational agencies that share the finalist roll call with us. Little would we imagine that our agency, a small upstart with a narcissistic over-the-top believe in ourselves could be bestowed with such an honour!</p>
<p>And what makes it sweeter is that these Awards are completely judged by client marketers. The group of people whose opinion truly matter to us. Almost 500 client-side marketers and advertisers in Malaysia participated in Boardroom Research&#8217;s Marketing Trends survey. These are genuine decision-makers and influencers represented across various industries and geographical areas of responsibilities. Clients.</p>
<p>We knew we are somewhere in the Top 10 in terms of rankings within these two categories: <em>PR Agency of the Year</em> and <em>Direct Marketing Agency of the Year</em>. However unlike previous years when <a href="http://www.brandthinkasia.com/2009/agency-of-the-year-as-voted-by-you/">we won</a> the Local Hero Award for Direct Marketing Agency and Creative Agency of the Year, we needed to do more.</p>
<p>As a finalist, we had to impress nine judges: leaders in their respective fields. People we dream to have as our clients. These nine individuals evaluated our agency based on our Business Performance (30%), Project Performance (30%), Staff Stability (15%) and Vision and Leadership (25%).</p>
<p>When we heard our name called, we froze in astonishment for just a moment before erupting into joy, happiness and a sense of achievement.</p>
<p>On behalf of the BRANDTHINK family, we thank these 9 judges, and everyone who nominated us via the Boardroom Research survey. But the people we truly must be grateful for are our clients who placed not only their trust, but place their money where their mouths are. Without their leadership and support we would not have been given opportunities to do great work for great people. Our team would not have the satisfaction of the job well done and we would not have been on that stage, accepting this honor. We would not have the chance to be a great.</p>
<p>While winning Silver and Bronze has given us an unbelievable level of stress to repeat this performance a year down the road, but it has strengthen our resolve and believe. We now know we need to aim much much higher and see ourselves as equals amongst giants.</p>
<p>For that, I am grateful, thankful and hopeful. For the future of our agency.</p>

Started on 29 June, the push targets affluent beer drinkers engaging them via Kronenbourg's Facebook page.

<p>Malaysia – As a follow-up to its recent global re-launch, Carlsberg has organised an event themed &#8216;Where’s The Party?&#8217; set to take place from 25 – 26 June at a secret venue to stir up major buzz.</p>
<p>Press ads have launched across several local dailies including The Sun and selected magazines like The Score while a host of digital executions have kicked-off across various online channels.</p>
<p>An exclusive by-invitation only affair, customers of the brand are required to participate in a series of online consumer contests via platforms such as Facebook and MSN in order to qualify as an invitee.</p>
<p>The main objective of the on-ground activity is to bolster the beer giant&#8217;s brand positioning, &#8220;That Calls for a Carlsberg&#8221;.</p>
<p>&#8220;This party best represents who we are as a brand &#8211; always keeping up with times and on the look-out for ways of improving as well as reaching out to all our consumers,&#8221; says Soren Ravn, Carlsberg Malaysia MD.</p>

<p>Malaysia &#8211; IWC Schaffhausen has appointed Brandthink Malaysia as its official public relations agency for the local market. The account was awarded without a pitch on 1 April, with the agency appointed on a retainer basis.</p>
<p>It is tasked with driving the brand&#8217;s communication strategies, aligning its brand messages and disseminating it across various media platforms via day-to-day PR duties and social engagement activities.</p>

<p>In addition to IWC, Brandthink also renewed its PR retainer with Roger Dubuis for another year, a brand the agency has worked on since 2006.</p>
<p>The luxury watch brand is the agency&#8217;s pioneer PR client, a result of a request made in 2008 by the brand&#8217;s distributor at the time to combine events, PR and advertising into a single agency.</p>
<p>&#8220;With Malaysians being increasingly affluent, there are opportunities IWC and Roger Dubuis can tap into that will grow their brands here in Malaysia. It&#8217;s going to be a pretty busy year,&#8221; said Jui Hong Teoh, managing director of Brandthink.</p>
<p>IWC is a luxury Swiss timepiece manufacturer and a brand under the Richemont Luxury group that carries names such as Cartier, Van Cleef &amp; Arpels and Piaget.</p>
<p>With work on the account well underway, the agency recently concluded a preview event for IWC&#8217;s latest Portofino collection with local media. It is understood that with the improving economy, the Swiss luxury brand intends to be more aggressive in the coming months with promoting its collections domestically.</p>
<p>&#8220;Affluent marketing has always been at the core of our agency. That&#8217;s how we started and that&#8217;s how I see us growing for the foreseeable future,&#8221; Teoh added.</p>

<p>The agency first began working for the General Mills brand during the Christmas period of last year on a project basis. At the time, the scope of work revolved around the launch of Häagen-Dazs&#8217; Christmas menu and cakes.</p>
<p>Commenting on the appointment, Jui Hong Teoh, managing director, Brandthink said: &#8220;Häagen-Dazs joins our list of iconic brands and clients and we&#8217;re very proud to have this opportunity to work with them.&#8221;</p>
<p>Celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, the agency enjoyed significant growth in 2010 and recently increased its PR team from five to eight consultants on the back of new client wins.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are very fortunate to have been given opportunities to work with very strong brands and there are more in the pipeline. This is why we are still on the lookout for additional PR professionals to join our team as we expect to grow even further in 2011,&#8221; Teoh added.</p>

<p>But there comes a time that we honestly feel a sense of pride when our clients &#8211; world renowned &#8211; wins an award that is so close to home. At this year&#8217;s Putra Brand Awards 2011, two of our clients won the hearts of Malaysian consumers.</p>
<p>One of our longest client Apple, won the Silver award for telecommunication device. We&#8217;ve seen Apple grew from obscurity in Malaysia to where it is today and we feel so proud to join them on this journey. Here&#8217;s to more years of continued success.</p>

Not only did it took home the highest honor this year, it is the only beer brand that has consistently won Gold for two years in a row. In an industry as competitive as the beer industry, this award means a whole lot.</p>

<p>Malaysia &#8211; In support of its latest Celebrate the New ibis Singapore marketing campaign, the Accor Group hospitality brand recently engaged local shop, Brandthink to manage all aspects of its new micro-site right from creation to Facebook app development.</p>
<p>The primary objective of the ad push is to stir up buzz for the upcoming launch of the hotel&#8217;s second location at Novena on 2 April, whilst securing bookings from holiday-makers upon its official opening.</p>
<p>As part of the exercise, an online contest has been incorporated, allowing fans a chance to win a three-day, two-night stay at the new establishment, three-hour non-stop party on a double-decker bus, daily buffet breakfasts and an all-day hop-on, hop-off FunVee City Tour of Singapore.</p>
<p>With five of such complimentary packages up for grabs, each winner is entitled to invite an additional five friends to join him or her for the get-away.</p>
<p>Having launched on 1 February, the campaign will run until 6 March 2011, which also marks the end of the contest period. Within one week of having gone live, the campaign has already generated 4000 new fans to the fresh ibis Singapore fan-page as well as thousands of contest entries.</p>
<p>According to Brandthink, the overall initiative is aimed mainly at reaching out to Facebook users from several key markets including Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Regional travelers are being targeted exclusively via social ads.</p>
<p>Ibis Hotels was introduced in Bencoolen, Singapore almost two years ago and has since become became a favourite amongst visitors from Malaysia, Indonesia, and other parts of the region for its value-for-money offerings.</p>
<p>The new Facebook page replaces an older installation which only focused on the first and not both hotel landmarks.</p>

<p>With the launch having kicked-off during a major on-ground event at the Carrefour Kota Damansara shopping mall yesterday, the theme being upheld speaks of the ‘happiness&#8217; surrounding the essence and traditions of Chinese culture and is represented by the unique calligraphy character (喜).</p>
<p>The various channels which have been engaged include print, digital and home retail media. Print ads have begun running in all major local newspapers with online executions being featured across sites such as Facebook, Carlsberg&#8217;s corporate website and several other news portals.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the out-of-home media component of the overall effort covers retail branding exercises at selected hyper-stores, restaurants, and bars nationwide.  A string of roadshows have been mapped out and will hit local cities namely Ipoh, Butterworth, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang.</p>
<p>A 12-feet high float began the initial phase of the tour yesterday as it travelled from Carrefour to the Kota Damansara Giant Hypermarket before making a final stop for the day at Tesco Kepong. The march of the float coincided with a host of performances by sky and acrobatic dancers and a routine by the Khuan Loke Lion Dance Troupe.</p>
<p>Promotions targeting Chinese consumers are being executed currently at food courts, coffee shops, bars, clubs and various retail outlets across the country with discount deals on the brand&#8217;s limited-edition beer offerings and product packages.</p>
<p>Carlsberg has also signed on as the main sponsor for a film called ‘Homecoming&#8217;, depicting the tale of family reunions during the season &#8211; a Malaysian/Singaporean collaboration. The movie is set to hit cinemas nationwide on 18 January.</p>
<p>Euro RSCG handled all creative elements surrounding the campaign with while <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">BRANDTHINK</span></strong> and OMD were responsible for PR-related duties and media planning and buying respectively. CIA International was the activation agency on board for the effort. The campaign will run until the end of the 2011 Chinese New Year festival.</p>

<p>Malaysia &#8211; Having launched premium French beer variant Kronenbourg 1664 into the local market on 1 December, Carlsberg Malaysia is using on-ground events, strategic partnerships and a series of BTL initiatives to promote the offering.</p>
<p>In conjunction with the official launch last week, Kronenbourg 1664 struck partnerships with several high-end brands such as Lanvin, Lancel, and Givenchy. The effort was focused on showcasing the exclusivity of the drink by establishing a connection between the product and French fashion. Future marketing strategies will include similar partnerships with renowned brands associated with fine foods, jewelry, the arts, music and such.</p>
<p>According to a spokesperson from Carlsberg, further BTL activations and executions are set to roll-out for a more personalized encounter between the customer and the beverage, with a focus on creating the ultimate consumer experience. In Malaysia, the core audience segment being targeted comprises urban males between the ages of 25 and 35 years old who appreciate fine quality brews.</p>
<p>CIA International is the creative agency on the campaign and also handled event management and all below-the-line efforts while incumbent PR firm, BRANDTHINK has been tasked with publicity, digital PR and media relations.</p>
<p>Having coincided with the launch, the marketing push will run for one year.</p>

<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been quite aggressive in extending our lead as the premier agency for lifestyle communication in Malaysia. FitFlop is an interesting hip brand from the UK and we absolutely love it. We hope to extend its cult status into Malaysia,&#8221; said Teoh Jui Hong, MD, BrandThink.</p>
<p>Upcoming plans include collaborations with fashion icons and opinion leaders in the country while driving media relations for the brand at the same time. Brand messages will be disseminate across various media platforms via day to day PR duties and social engagement activities.</p>
